Book Overview

The "brilliant, funny, meaningful novel" (The New Yorker) that established J. D. Salinger as a leading voice in American literature--and that has instilled in millions of readers around the world a lifelong love of books.
"If you really want to hear about it, the first thing you'll probably want to know is where I was born, and what my lousy childhood was like, and how my parents were occupied and all before they had me, and all...

great read

I've been reading The Catcher in the Rye I'm not done but i have to say I've been enjoying the book greatly i genuinely find it funny how the book is written because i feel like I'm texting a friend.

Poor quality copy

One of my favorite books but I received a very unacceptable and unreadable copy containing notes and other handwritten stuff on the pages, in such quantity that it was distracting beyond hope.

Not Bad...

I kinda hated this book in the first half. There's not a clear plot and the main character annoyed me, but it grew on me by the end. I felt bad for the kid. Honestly, though, my favorite thing about it is the cover illustration (the one with the carousel horse). It might be my favorite book cover ever. I read that J.D. Salinger was usually against having cover art for his books, so it makes sense that the exception would be so nice to look at.

I did not feel this book would be considered to be in good condition..

The binding of the book was good, it was definitely held together and intact. There was writing on the majority of the pages, it was obviously used for a class for a student. There were over 50 tabs on the side of the book.. again, used as a school assignment. I would not consider this to be in a good condition. I would not have purchased it had I known it would be in this condition overall.

Book condition was okay, content was not.

Thought I’d try it since it’s a “classic”. Ever since I saw it in Conspiracy Theory, I’ve wondered. What a waste of time. The ramblings of a madman. Lots of swearing. I won’t say anything more, because too much and I’d just spoil it.

Very boring

I got up to chapter 17 but I really couldn’t finish this book idk maybe I can someday. Holden dislike-fulness on just about everything and he’s narcissistic lite personality made it really hard for me to focus on the book.

Great condition!

Beautiful book

best book ever

genuinely my favorite book in the whole world. if you don't like it, you didn't get it. which is fine, but it's not because the book is bad, it's because it's for a specific type of person. pls give it a try!!!

Had writing in it

I was very disappointed to find that the book 1) didn't have the cover shown in the image and 2) had a previous owner's name in it. Although I know it's not a huge deal, I wish I could return it for another.

Ok quality

I’m not complaining because almost every book I order on here comes in perfect. I do like to remove the dust covers and when I removed this one I saw some rather odd poke holes on the cover. Although it isn’t a big deal and I still am happy with my purchase.

Good book

I read this book only based on the books legacy. I read it during my early twenties, I found the book kind of stupid, until I took it for the other side. It speaks to me on a different plain. This only came after I read it and donated it to the library. Various parts resonated with myself. About growing up, being a teen, feeling dejected, unwanted, and confused. Even though you have friends a younger sibling being there and making time and taking them for granted. The book is condemned for being shallow, mediocre, and boring, but it taught me a lot about taking life too seriously and a sense of entitlement as a youth and about growing up.

Crazy

I feel cheated! Not only did I pay over $10 for a book that was missing 3 pages but the story sure wasn't what I expected! Maybe I've lead a very realistic hard life....I sure don't see what all the hoopla is about this book! Disappointed!

I remember this fantastic book from long ago

Many years ago I read this marvelous story and still recommend it to young people I know as one of the best "Coming of Age" stories for those on the brink of maturing---a real masterpiece. Rose D., a former and long-time teacher of English and creative writing.

Excelente libro
