Emphasizing the basic scientific principles that determine how infectious agents interact with humans, this new edition of a classic resource replaces multiple texts by covering bacteriology, immunology, virology, mycology, and parasitology in one book.
For us 21st century kids, a book without big nice drawings or shiny colors is quite repellent, but this is a reference book and it has about everything a medical student needs to know about Microbiology! Minus some of the most recent discoveries, since the last review was in 95... Still, it is one of the few textbooks recommanded by my Micro teacher, and it does have qualities that make up for the dusty cover : detailed explanations, useful summary tables, pleasant presentation even though it's not as illustrated as a book from the "made ridiculously simple" collection... And for that price, it's always a good purchase!
