Re-reading for nostalgia, still love it!

This was the first ever book that I read in the Zenda series. Given to me by my grandparents when in 4th or 5th grade, I couldn't put it down then and even now re-reading it, although much quicker this time around, I find myself falling in love with the characters all over again. This is most definitely my favorite in the series for multiple reasons. I would highly recommend this book in particular as well as the rest of the series for children in upper elementary school- they won't be able to put the books down even almost 10 years after being published!

Crystal Planet

Perfect for our fourth-grade girls

The Zenda books were passed around my daughter's fourth-grade classroom on a waiting-list system. Even reluctant readers couldn't wait to get their hands on them and re-read them, too. Actually, it is more descriptive to say they devoured them rather than read them! Although they are fantasy, they also contain relationship issues with which girls this age are concerned.

Another Beautiful World to Imagine

Crystallin, a planet so wonderfully described in this book. It was easy for me to imagine all the glittering crystals that were said to make up this creative planet. I would have been thrilled to be able to visit such a magical land! That's what I love about books; you can visit so many places that are impossible to visit in real life. I thought that Stella, Zenda's trouble-making teenage cousin, made the story very entertaining! I also felt sad often for Zenda's younger cousin, who always seemed to be bullied and left out by her older sister. The ending was good, and as in every Zenda book, it made me feel excited for the next book to come out! Overall, I would say this is a great series if you love to read, love magic, or want an entertaining book. There is always a good moral to each story, and the awesome covers make the books fun to read and collect.

The Crystal Planet

As with all the other books, this one was fantastic! Once again, this book has beautiful cover art, as well as a great story that you won't want to stop reading until you get to the end. Zenda seems to have the same problems that every girl has, such as feeling jealous, sad, determined, and in this particular book, pressured. Zenda is thrilled that she gets to spend spring break on the planet Crystallin, staying with her cousins, whom she's never met before. Her younger cousin, although very kind and caring, loves plants, which Zenda is half sick of, since she's around them so much on her own planet. Zenda's older cousin, Stella, is pretty, and cool. So Zenda is happy that Stella accepts her into her group of friends. But exactly how far will Zenda go to stay in the group? I'd recommend this book, as well as all the others, to anyone.
