Fascinating Insight Into Racist Cult Killings!

This book represents a fascinating insight into the often paradoxical notion of U.S. serial killings, to wit; that most are perpetrated by white middle class males. Zebra Killings should be read by every person interested in criminal justice/criminology to bridge the gap between naivete and reality in demonstrating that murders in the guise of, or as a direct result of racist religious fundamentalism has been perpetrated on a large scale by non-whites in the United States. The "Zebra Killings" tally of deaths is officially at "more than 100" as evidence shows links all over the State of California as compiled by the State of CA Department of Justice Task Force. The best description of the killings and subsequent book by Howard was by author James Lubinskas (reprinted below). Five stars. The crimes of Charles Manson, Jeffrey Dahmer and The Son of Sam are still well remembered years after they were committed. Yet there is one set of serial killings that has been almost completely forgotten and is rarely mentioned in popular culture. The Zebra Killings occurred in the San Francisco bay area between 1972 and 1974 and left 71 people dead. They were dubbed the Zebra Killings because of the radio channel used by the police investigating the case (channel Z). The name would take on a more sinister meaning as it became apparent that a group of blacks was systematically stalking and killing whites simply because of the color of their skin. Zebra (1979) was written by crime writer Clark Howard and remains the definitive book on the murders. Using court records, police reports, witnesses and interviews with the killers themselves, Howard was able to piece together the horrid details of the murders and the unrelenting hatred that inspired the killers. The majority of the attacks were carried out by five members of a group within Louis Farrakhan's Nation of Islam called the "Death Angels." Jesse Lee Cooks, J.C. Simon, Larry Green, Manuel Moore and Anthony Harris were part of this group which believed that whites were created 3,000 years ago by a black mad scientist named Yacub who wanted a race of inferiors to rule over. Death Angels believed they could earn "points" towards going to heaven when they died if they killed whites. For them, whites were not human beings but "grafted snakes," "blue-eyed devils" and "white motherf-----s." Howard describes the vicious and cowardly nature of the attacks, which were made at gunpoint and mostly carried out against women and weak or old men who could not fight back. Chilling Tale of Mass Murder and Savagery

This book recounts the horrifying crime spree known as the Zebra killings that happened in the Bay Area in the early 1970's. This spree, committed by black members of an offshoot of the Muslim religion, was done in an attempt for the murderers to win "Death Angel" status. This dubious honor was given to any "true believer" who murdered a certain number of white children, white women, or white men, or a combination of the three. (One received more credit for slaying a child or woman than a man supposedly because it would take more fortitude to do it. However, the author believes [with good reason, I think] it had more to do with the murderers being cowards afraid of anyone who might fight back.) Taking place over several months, the killers took several lives and wounded others in their barbaric attempt to win Death Angel wings. The author does a splendid job in recreating the events as well as allowing the reader to get inside the head of the people who actually believed it to be an honor to murder others. What is even more chilling than the specific Zebra murders is the fact that other Death Angels supposedly existed in California and could be walking the streets even today. For those with a strong stomach wishing to find out about a savage wave of crime (a wave that has strangely been forgotten), this is a must read.

A Bone Chilling Incredible Horror Story

This is a book everyone should read. It is a factual account of deeds ordinary human beings would not even dream of doing to one another. But these people were evidently no more than animals. Their thoughts and actions proved beyond doubt that our society has elements within it that should not be free to prey on others under any circumstances. In fact, in my mind, these kinds of people should not even be allowed to live. I cannot imagine that the media never reported these atrocities as racist crimes -- yet they certainly were. Of course this would have been politically incorrect then as it is today. The entire thing is almost impossible to imagine taking place, but it did. How many of these killers were executed for their beastly murders? How many did the taxpayers have to continue feeding in prison cells? How many are back on the streets today? How many more like thinking Blacks are roaming the streets looking for a chump to kill. This book will certainly make the reader ask such questions. It should open the eyes of many.

Hauntingly Truthful Piece of History

Howard Clark's book Zebra is hauntingly truthful. My family member was a murdered victim of the "Death Angels" horrific crimes. The cult was an off shoot of the Muslim religion and to achieve the highest status and a possible trip to Mecca, they were to murder and maim as many white victims as they could. Points were "earned", the highest amount being white children, then white women and the least white men. When you read this book it can be shocking and unbelievable that such crimes do actually happen. San Francisco was terrified during the 70's when these crimes were being committed and Mr.Clark's book invokes that same terror in you as you read the book. This book even includes actual photos.
