Not perfect, but we'd have been lost without it.

This was a great help backpacking around the Yucatan and beyond. Most of the info paid off - particularly with regards to the cheap hotels - but don't forget, prices change in the time it takes to write and print a book like this! If there was a down side, it's that it didn't explain just how awful some of the public transport systems truly are - it's truly murder trying to get to some places, even the big ones like Chichen Itza, at times. There was enough info on the places without going overboard and the maps were decent enough to follow. This was way above the other guides we checked out, so I doubt it'll disappoint.

Lonely Planet Yucatan rocks!!

I chose this book from 10 or more books I browsed in the bookstore. It was sooooo useful once I got there. Every place highly recommended by the book was definitely worth going. The only caution is that the price of food, etc., has increased quite a lot. I would definitely recommend this to anyone who wants to see Yucatan for snorkeling/diving and mayan pyramids.

Good guide for those who like to travel off the beaten path!

If you are familiar with the Lonley Planet series you know what this book is about, and as with the other LP guides I found it very helpful during my trip. Lots of great info for the travler who likes to explore off the beaten path and the economy minded travler. Very helpful info concerning the ruin sites. Made my hole trip great! The only sad part was my visit to Playa Del Carmen. Last time I was there was over ten years ago when it was a small village with unpaved streets, now it has grown into a small version of Cancun.

helpful guide

This is a detailed well documented guide for a traveler to explore and better understand the region. The guide has a list of all cities in the region and can easily get the tourist acquainted with the area. The introduction to the cities begins with a historical background; has an orientation and information section; followed by the tours of the city; places to stay; restaurants and things to do.My stay in the region was predominantly in Playa del Carmen; which is less crowded than Cancun and has the same to offer. Its location is ideal as it is centrally located in proximity to Cozumel and all the Mayan sites in the region. During my stay it was a very helpful guide.
