Totally different from his others. I read it through, understood the message. Just didn't like it.

I don't know what is wrong with the rest of the reviewers, but this book is not bad at all. Maybe they didn't understand it, but the mystery is solved, maybe you all need to reread it. The music she hears is the song playing at the hotel at the end. All of the things that are happening is warnign her that if she doesn't change her actions, this will be the outcome, she will relive this horror over and over and die over and over unless she changes her situation. In other words stop sleeping with the married man and get the idea out of your head that he will ever leave his wife without dire things coming about. It even explains it on the back inside page! Pretty much everything I've ever read by him is gold, maybe one or two, but that is rare.

This book is a thriller with depth. I have read many so called "thrillers" with cheap plots and characters. The real plot in this book is between the lines. I have read other Patterson books, but so far I find this very interesting for a "pop" author. It has the culture of real literature. This story with it's fast-moving thrills & chill holds a great moral sub plot. It's a great lesson to many of us, as we seem to ignore many "warnings" that are right before our eyes. Patterson doesn't "create" a new story here. He just rewrites an age-old plot in a new light. His simple writing style is astoundingly effective. I have read many books of this genre using this same style, that are so "amateur". I have read another Patterson book "The Quickie" of the same style but this books graces its first person narrative so well. I can go on for ten pages about this book but, I think I'll stop here. Despite the "don't think, just shoot" title, this book is definetely one for the thinking.
FANTASTIC

I am a HUGE James Patterson fan and although I was VERY dissappointed in Cross, I LOVE this book. It is a typical James Patterson book with the twist you never saw coming, but at the same time i think that he made what could have a boring book great. the first few chapters are kind of slow but about a third of the way in, I could not put it down. For those who are only looking for you normal, James Patterson, murder mystery don't get this book. If you are looking for a book you can't put down, this is the way to go.
You Guys Are Not Getting It!

Guys....seriously....this is very close to being a religious book...It is judgmental and is intended to show the reader that their choices on earth lead them to heaven or hell. I loved it and thought it was his one of his most thought provoking books. Read it again from that perspective....Disclaimer... do not read any further! She is dead, she goes to hell, her fate in hell is that the events of the entire book continue to happen to her for eternity. This book was fascinating. The only thing I didn't like was the random baby thing but that was another reason the author added for why she went to hell.
Don't Listen to the Others - This book is Excellent!!

I don't understand how anyone who likes mysteries or James Patterson could dislike this book. It was so well done. I never saw the ending coming. And as for boring, are they kidding? Chilling, maybe, but boring, NEVER. I have read all his books with or without co-authors and I loved it. And believe me, I'm easily bored. Its especially good to read this time of year. Very scary and great ending. Like most of his books, there is blood and gore and people getting killed, but that's James Patterson. If you don't like him don't read him.
