This book takes the vague idea we know (listen more, talk less) and shows ways to do it. It's not the business way of look at someone and repeat what they say to show you understand. The idea is to talk to people with the intent to learn about them. I was shocked to find how little I listened to others. Reading this book made me realize how often I listened enough to respond; not enough to learn from or about the person I was talking to. It has helped me make my friendships stronger and communicate better when talking with everyone from home, to social situations and at work even if we do not agree on the topic.
A Very Necessary Book!

Insightful. Presented points of view I had not considered. The author suggests easy acts to improve one's own listening skills. Most interesting are the author's reasons WHY listening is so important to ourselves as individuals as well as why listening is important to humanity!
