A Fine Little Book

Many of the chapters of this book could be expanded into books of their own, but the author gets right to the point and hits the high points beautifully. A real help to the near-graduate, and pretty good reading for his/her parents as well!

A great Groovy Guide that doesn't lecture like your parents!

I thought this was a wonderful little book that was really helpful. No one book can tell you everything you need to know about "real" life. Meyer does highlight all of the major things that one forgets when they are panicking to find an apartment, friendless, almost broke and tired of eating only pasta. It was great for helping me organize my own thoughts rather than relying only on some author's. As for qualifications Meyer has been there and done that! Experience is the best qualification!

A helpful guide in making the transition

I just made the transition from college to the "real world." And to make things even more complicated for myself, I moved across the country. Not only did I have to deal with starting new and paying off debts accrued from life as a student, I was doing so thousands of miles away from my nest. Ingrid's book came to me in the nick of time, before I packed my bags and headed back to mom's house. I found her advice reasonable, her delivery sound. I was a bit reluctant at first since I dare say my ego cannot take much talking down to from someone my own age with a book deal, but I didn't find ON YOUR OWN TWO FEET preachy or stuffy in the least bit as I have found other personal life management books. Her tone was light and funny, a quality much appreciated from a gal who spends nights with a furrowed brow glancing over credit card statements and bills.I would recommend this book to anyone who finds themselves in the transition after graduation, when the funds from student loans have dried up and repayment looms, when apartment life away from the folks is appealing but seems out of reach, etc. I hope to see more from Ingrid, perhaps something for us approaching 30.

A great gift for graduates

I stumbled on this book at my local bookstore as I was looking for something appropriate for the college grads on my list. Its breadth makes it perfect for my son's friends, who are just starting out in life. Its humor is a bonus! I hope we'll hear more from Ingrid Meyer as her own two feet carry her forward in life.
