Indispensible for small business owners

NOLO is up front about this: this guide is designed for small to medium sized corporations. Like NOLO's other, equally valuable, volumes, this is a reference work. Not light reading, you won't find any rah-rah advice and words of wisdom. If you need an all-inclusive guide to running a limited liability company, this 6th edition is well worth having on your shelf. The included CD-ROM contains dozens up currently up-to-date printable forms. The book walks the reader through organizing the mounds of paperwork and necessary forms. Meetings, and keeping the minutes of those meetings, is thoroughly covered. New technology, such as "virtual meetings", are covered in detail as well. Different types of loans are covered, as well as a host of tax issues. The appendix is loaded with usable and adaptable forms. The audience for this book is very clear: it's for people who run a limited liability company or for those who plan to soon. It's a treasure trove of information and another entry into NOLO's dependable run of useful reference works.

UN Limited help

The forms in this book, by themselves, are worth buying the book. The information in this book -- in its self-paced, extensive, almost friendly presentation -- helps to throughly explain the ins and outs of a Limited Liability Company, as well as much practical advice (down to the letter) and some subtle nuances, (in my own words -- "things you never thought of before but needed to know"). Reading this book is almost like sitting with an advisor who is patiently explaining what is needed to start up and maintain a LLC. The CD at the back of the book has a multitude of forms, many of which are actually contained within the book -- but there are also many more forms within the book itself. The advice is sterling. This is not a book to just pick up and read through -- it is a through study that enables, empowers and maintains the LLC.

Every LLC Owner Needs This Book

You file the LLC, pay the annual fee to the state and you're done right? That's why I and I'm sure many other LLC owners thought until a lawyer friend was doing a review of my business one day and started asking me if I was keeping up with the necessary documentation--such as doing promissory notes for the loans I made to the business and resolutions for this and that. "Um, what?" pretty much sums up my response. Nobody collects these forms from us but they're mighty good to have on hand if someone ever tries to contest your LLC protection, and they're often required by certain programs such as WBENC certification anyway. She recommended this book which explains the various forms and when they should be used and even gives you a CD with them so you don't even have to type them in yourself. So it basically takes 5 minutes whenever you need to do one. I'm not going to pretend that this book will keep you breathless on the edge of your seat all night--but it could certainly help prevent future sleepless nights if misfortune comes to call.

This product is great! It has all the info you need to start a LLC. Also has all the forms you need. I'm so glad I bought it!

Good Resource Guide

This book provided me with the essential information an LLC owner needs to avoid trouble with the IRS and the courts. This book contains a lot of practicle information, useful forms and many real life examples. It covers meeting minutes preparation, record keeping and the updated Federal 2003 Tax Act. This is a must book for any LLC owner!
