As a gardener and author, it is easy to sit on the fence and proclaim what is possible in your own garden. You might even be thinking that all I have written is not possible. In this second edition, I wanted to show you that all I have written is possible, and I have created my own Idaho of solace I can retreat to when my mental health is suffering in these uncertain times. So, I have included images in this book to show you the projects I have done over the years. A shed may not be the glamorous side to gardening, but I built my 8x8 feet shed from 90% reclaimed wood. I have also just finished converting my old, reclaimed greenhouse into a more pleasing wooden looking structure. The greenhouse is now insulated and looking great for overwintering my tender plants. There is even an old fridge freezer in there that has been cladded with timber and you would never know it was there. Recycling only takes your imagination on what you could do with those unwanted items we throw away so readily these days. Transforming your garden can be expensive and if money is limited, upcycling everyday garden items into something new you can use, will not only save you money, but will also prevent another perfectly serviceable piece of garden furniture or equipment being sent to landfill. All the images in this book are from my own garden. My aim of this second edition is to show you what is possible with a little time and imagination and I hope that my own endeavours encourage you to do the same in your garden. We are at a crossroads with our environment and in the next decade we may learn that the Earth is not responding to our attempts to rectify the mistakes of the past, but to do nothing is no longer an option. Saving the planet from a certain climatic disaster by using the Earth's resources responsibly is something we all need to do more of because our planet does not owe us our lives. But we do owe our lives to our planet.
