Albuquerque Journal, Review by Anthony DellaFlora (has had his share of relationships). Amid the gaggle of new books on relationships, marriage and divorce is one you might consider for yourself or a friend, Your Dream Relationship. Unlike most books on the subject that give earnest but essentially misguided advice about where to find partners or discovering new sexual techniques, the Gavrans get to the heart of the matter -- preparing yourself physically, emotionally, and spiritually for the relationship you want. The Gavrans are from the "you won't find happiness-with-another-until-you-are-whole" school of relationships. By searching within, the authors explain, we can begin to create the kind of person others will be attracted to, and attract the kind of person we want. In fact, it is the process that is important, they claim, not the outcome. And if all goes well, the reader can wind up in a relationship that is greater than the sum of its two parts. These are concepts more easily discussed than actually practiced. But the Gavrans do a good job of explaining an essentially Eastern philosophy through a linear, 11-step process made for Western sensibilities.
