Excellent unbiased consumer education

I appreciate this book very much. I have had three children all of them natural all of them with a midwife all of them in a birth center. I read this book as I was trying to educate myself with my first pregnancy. I found it informative and unbiased. It presented a myriad of options that I then got to choose from as I planned my births. After reading it I found that I identified more with the midwifery model of birth care and made choices accordingly to avoid hospital protocol and unnecessary interventions. It outlines options for hospital and non-hospital births as well as doctor assisted and midwife attended births. It discusses drugs that are used and surgical procedures common in hospitals and what it is like with or without these interventions. Read it and decide for yourself. You will surely find something that resonates with you as you decide to take responsibility for your birth experience and try to make choices that will offer a joyful and safe birth for both you and baby. And then just let it roll, be flexible, take the journey.
