EXCELLENT RESOURCE GUIDE

This book is EXCELLENT. I'm not quite sure why some of the other reviews are so hard, because it CLEARLY states these are "guidelines" and every baby grows at their own rate. I really appreciated the milestones that were to be expected as well as the WONDERFUL ideas on how to play with your baby. I'd recommend this book wholeheartedly. Happy reading moms and dads!

Great non-stress parenting book

I love this book. It's the kind of non-stress approach to parenting. Mind you, it gives plenty of information on what may go bad at any certain point, but it is not the main focuss of the book, as I found it is in others. Thus yes, it says you can begin solids at 4 months, or you can wean the baby at 4 months. I believe there's nothing bad in that. It NEVER says you HAVE to do it. It always very clearly mentions that all babies develop differently, and some may reach milestones faster than others, that's all. I like the week-by-week approach very much, the short chapters, the very distinct paragraphs in a chapter. I can read as much or as little at a time as I need. I like to read a few weeks in advance to know what comes, and go back the week of. I'm a first time mom, but I feel confident with this book. I think the people who are giving 1 and 2 stars to the book are inflexible, and would definitely call me a bad mother, but you should see my kid before :). Again, as kids may reach milestones at different ages, there are different parenting methods, that's all. This book clearly describes the "take it easy" approach.

This book was so good we give it to all our friends now

We used it every day. It is a day by day guide. The entries are short which is important at that stage because you don't have a lot of time. We left it in our bathroom and that was enough to have time to read it every day. It really lets you know what to expect(what they could be doing or physical developments). It also gives you a good idea of when to go to a doctor. It also teaches quite a bit of what new parents need to know to take care of their babies.(Just don't be thrown off by what they put in for the first week- It's what you need to know but you may not have the time for it. That week is better to read ahead if you can.) LOVE IT!!!!

Get this right away!!!!

My baby is now 3 weeks old and I wish I would have gotten this book sooner. Being a first time parent is tough, and you just don't know what to expect from the every begining. This book tells you! It starts with what your baby will do from the first 48 hours after it is born and continues week by week. I have not seen another book like this! And I have looked. I HIGHLY recommend this book. Both moms and dads should read it, it just helps you to understand clearly what your baby is doing- physically, socially, and mentally. I even recommend this book for those having a second and third child. Having a baby is a miracle, but watching your baby grow and develope into a little person is yet another miracle!
