Better than the Show

I have to start off by saying if you’ve already watched the show you still need to read the book. I was torn on if I really wanted to get into a book series when I have already seen the entire show and I am telling you the books are 100 times better (and I LOVED the show). I have read the entire series and watched the entire series. The first season of the show follows very closely to the first book, “You”. However, the book is so much juicier, there are so many details left out of the show and in my opinion it is a bit more “rated” than the show which I loved. If you plan to read the first book, I would recommend the whole series as it becomes almost completely different than the show and again is just so much better.

Oh. My. Goodness. Don't watch the show before reading the series!

Holy COW! This is the best series I've ever read!! HIGHLY suggest!!! Caroline Kepnes is a wonder to read!!!

Liked the book more than anything I've read before. Deceiving as it is.

I LOVED this book. However, I ordered it in the hardcover format, while the book that arrived was a paperback. So I ended up with two of the same exact book, which was practically useless to me. But, this book is incredible and thrilling. I love the prose format and perspective of Joe. (I have the fattest crush on him too, that is unimportant.) This book and the one that follows in the series is amazing. I wish I had gotten a hardcover, though. I'll likely keep ordering till I get a hardcover.

Psychological

Unique and intriguing read. It's more so psychological than horror. I will say that the sequel (Hidden Bodies) doesn't come close to comparing to You.

Whoa.

I will admit that I watched the show before I read the book. If I'm being honest, I didn't even know there was a book until after I finished the second season. But the book, oh my goodness. IT IS SO WEIRD! I feel like in the show Joe's character is much more likeable, but reading him in the book, he is much less tame. From the way he describes Beck-- how he describes everything really, he is absolutely insane. In my opinion, he is much less appealing in the book, and I find myself constantly angry with him. I will say though, I definitely enjoyed the book and have already bought Hidden Bodies to continue the story with Joe. Definitely a good read, and I'd imagine that if I hadn't seen the show first, I would've been on the edge of my seat the entirety of the novel.

Slow start but good

Very slow start to the book. Took me awhile to get into. Halfway through it picks up and gets good. Definitely need it to understand the characters. But the two sequels are phenomenal

So much better than the show.

Caroline Kepnes created such a thrilling and immersive tale with this book. I absolutely loved the way she brought the characters to life, giving each of them complex and interesting personalities. This was one of those books I carried with me to the kitchen to get a drink because I just didn’t want to stop reading it. I will definitely be buying “Hidden Bodies” in the near future.

My first time reading a thriller ever and Caroline Kepnes did not dissapoint! !!

You was such a creepy and gripping novel! I was anxiety ridden and biting my nails almost every other page. I only watches a few episodes from the show but I know the book is 100x better! The main character Joe Goldberg sees Beck enter the bookshop one day and from then on his obsession with her only intensifies as he finds any probable means to rid them of anything that keeps them apart. Joe was such an interesting and hypnotic character that I sometimes found myself cheering him on through his journey of being with Beck. Five stars! I just ordered the second book because I need to know what happens next in Joe's love life.

I watched and loved the show first, the book is EVEN BETTER

At first I was afraid that I was wasting time and money on a book that I've already seen the show to, but after reading it, I can say that the two are completely different experiences. Yes, most of the huge plot devices are the same, but there are enough differences that I almost feel like I'm reading a different work of fiction, with the same creepiness that made me love the characters in the show. Definitely worth it to pick up, and a super quick read. I can't wait to read the second book!

SO good whether you've watched the show or not

I was worried that this book would be a replica of the show on Netflix/Lifetime. HOWEVER, this book is like a sister to the tv show. Both are very similar and both beautifully done. This book is just as suspenseful and wonderfully written. Definitely a bit intense at points, but a great read nonetheless. I highly recommend to anyone interested in a thriller (18+ haha) filled with 455 pages of pure excitement.

Amazing!

Kepnes does such a good job bringing characters to life! This book plays mind games just like its characters. You will find your self rooting for the "bad guy" then remembering how messed up he really is. Keeps you on the edge of your seat wanting more with each page!

Loved it!

Took me just a weekend to finish this--I couldn't put it down! Then when I saw there was a sequel at the end of it, I instantly went and ordered that!

Great book!

Holy moly! Amazing character's! I fell for the seductive darkness completely. I really love her writing style and wit! I finished this book and immediately started the follow up!

Excellent Read! Kepnes is Brilliant

You by Caroline Kepnes is the best thriller I have read this year. Hypnotic is an understatement. You will be seduced by Kepnes writing, as well as Joe, the main character. He is the epitome of controlled chaos. While his exterior seems cool, calm, and collected, he's already planning his future with Beck, his obsession. From the first page turn, the story line and character development builds leaving you wanting more when you reach the end. Addictive, thrilling, chilling, and dark, you'll find something or someone you love within the pages of this epic read! 5 Stars hand down!

Wish I could read it again, but I just read it last year. Incredibly good, voice is captivating, you will sit down and finish this book in a few hours.
