You Say More Than You Think

I can already "read" people better. I now know that people close to me lie a lot. A book every law official should read. It will help me with sales.

Best information available on body language.

After reading several other body language books, I kind of threw in the towel, so to speak, mainly because I just didn't get much out of them. However, this one was different. It was very definitive and thorough. It does involve a plan, too, and something anyone can utilize into their day to day lives in order to understand what signals everyone is giving out. I thought the author did a stand-up job on this book and the seven day plan is something I can defintely use and not be too rushed to complete. I would most definitely recommend this one, as well as How to Meet and Pick Up Women.

Putting Yourself in Control

We all want to be in control of our careers; we especially want to be in control of our lives. The challenge of putting ourselves in control of our destiny can be a very tricky proposition; so much of our success depends on how well we interact with other people, by (ideally) creating a mutual "win-win" scenario. Of course, in order to create the right environment for mutual collaboration, it's crucial to understand not only what other people are saying, with their words; we also need to be able to understand that tricky "non-verbal" communication, as well; aka "body language". In a most engaging and informative "7-Day Action Plan", Janine Driver (with help from Mariska van Aalst) takes the reader through the process of understanding the language our bodies use when we're keeping our mouths shut, as well as preparing us for using that language "to get what we want"; usually, that entails a rewarding career, a fulfilling love life, and maybe even getting those surly teenage kids to understand we're on their side; really. Driver begins the "body language course" by quickly debunking some of the myths from "The Old Body Language" (mind reading, erroneously judging, for example); she then quickly reveals the secrets to really understanding this stuff, which not only entails the direction our belly buttons are facing when we're interacting with someone, but even includes our "naughty bits" and other lower extremities. As Johnny Carson might've said..."That...I did not know!" There's of course, much much more; but this is only a review; not a rehash of what's in store for the reader. I don't want to give too much away; if "naughty bits" doesn't peak the reader's interest, I give up. Suffice to say, I thoroughly enjoyed this book; most importantly, I snagged a great deal of very useful information which will help me navigate my way through all sorts of tricky social/business encounters going forward. I'm pretty sure it could help even you!

You Say More than you Think

I watched Janine Driver on Oprah, where she gave many excellent examples of body language that we are not aware of. The book elaborates on her examples and so much more. For parents raising teenagers, and those in the business world, or even every day experiences, it is an excellent resource for being in tune with understanding both your own and body language of others. The author used to be a stand up comic, and she entertains us with many aspects of her subjects. They call her the "Lyin Tamer". Very clever and well written.

Lots of Helpful Tips

Janine was the keynote at my organization's conference a few years back. After seeing her speak, I've started gain a real interest in body language. Out of all the books and information I have read or seen, this is definitely one of the best. After purchasing it a few days ago and reading through it, I've found a large amount of simple but surprising tips and tricks. One of my favorites is the the belly button rule, it helps me read other people im interacting with, while at the same time helping me focus my attention on the person I'm talking to. After reading the book, I have come to find that I may have been sending a lot of the wrong signals with my body position, the rules and other information gathered from the book has started to change my interactions with people.
