Perfect Title for this book- you'll learn many dino names!

I had been searching for a dinosaur book to use at my son & daughter's dinosaur party this summer. I wanted a simple book to tell them a little about dinosaurs in general - what they ate, when they lived, how we came to have their bones as fossils, what their names were. And most importantly, something to tell them all the kinds of dinosaurs (because that's what the kids really care about) and HOW TO SAY THE NAMES! Even adults can have trouble rattling off some of these without a pronunciation key, which this book has, and frankly, I don't remember even learning that there were so many different ones. For instance, I now know the there was a dinosaur called Tuojiangosaurus, pronounced too-HWANG-uh-sawr-us. We'll be sure to use this to identify the dinosaurs we dig out of the sandbox at the party. Plus, this is a large durable board book, so I don't have to worry about my son (age 3) and all his little friends ripping the pages. This is the perfect book for - in my opinion- any age, with target being age 2 to 8. I agree with the other reviewer that the drawings are interesting but not scary. You will not regret buying this book for your child, your classroom if you're a teacher, and maybe even as an awesome party favor at a dinosaur party.

Lots of Dinosaurs

My four year old loves dinosaurs and he likes this book. The text is minimal but informative. There are lots of drawings of dinosaurs with the names (and pronunciation) of each. There are a couple of dinosaurs being eaten but I think the subdued colors and their size and placement on the page make them unalarming. When we first got this book my son didn't even notice the few carnivorous scenes. I think this book is ideal for a very young dinosaur fan.
