With its simple and inventive illustrations that enhance the text without cluttering the story, You Are Now Leaving Torporville is a book for anyone who has ever felt like an outsider or disconnected. This story of three unincluded kids helping the disadvantaged Xant quite literally discover himself, reminds us that help can often be found in the most unlikely people and places. The handy glossary is a fun addition too.Purchase and enjoy this story with its clever approach to the common lament of not fitting in, and learn some new vocabulary words while you're at it. To not share this book with the children or "adult" children in your life would be quite indecorous indeed!

I believe that the message of this book is presented in a simplistic manner, but still is a strong motivator to anyone of any age. This book not only has inspired me to become more focused on stronger themes in my writing but also to recognize that obvious meanings, like this book has emphasized with great articulation and from the heart, can be more of an achievment. To conclude, this book is both mesmorizing and inspirational that brings out the truth of people, real people, everyday people, people from Torpoville.

Wow - this was a great treat to share with my kids! Not only was the story inviting but the moral lessons well placed and easy for young readers to grasp. The illustrations are well detailed and beautiful. There are a few vocabulary building words inserted throughout that keeps the reading colorful and with the enclosed glossary gives young readers (and me) an opportunity to build vocabulary. The author pinpointed a story line that anyone young and old can identify with. If you like reading to young people this is a must.

Like the jacket of the book describes, the story is about the most remarkable events ever to take place in the town of Torporville. Hailing from the orphanage is a boy without arms, ears, eyes or a name who is not welcome in the town he lives in. He meets some equally misunderstood children in the town and befriends them. The ending, which may come as a suprise, is perfect for this somewhat dark tale.I would compare this story to those that Tim Burton and Edward Gory might come up with but a little more child friendly than the latter. The text is told in rhyme and the drawings are beautiful and charming. It was a suprise to find that as an adult I enjoyed it a much as as my kids did. Within the story lie words that most adults don't even know but even so can figure out what they mean from the surrounding text or the glossary at the end. Not only does it become an accidental learning tool for vocabulary but the many lessons inside this book are also taken with the reader. The suggested age level for the readers is 9-12, but I believe is much wider than that. I would recomend it to anyone and everyone.
