Achieve Financial Fitness !

I heartily endorse this thoughtful set of ideas, as people wade through choices for achieving "financial" fitness by thinking and acting in smart ways, especially in today's environment of financial uncertainty. Dr. Vitt and Karen Murrell provided me with a roadmap, a guide that allowed me to select that which will be most helpful to me, as a consumer, and most importantly as an independent planner for tomorrow! If one is to find ways to save, invest, and diversify in today's markets, I highly recommend this book. My particular favorite section was the one that many people do not focus on! How does one plan for senior years? How does one deal with the reality of aging, while protecting assets and investing wisely after 55? Go straight to You and Your Money, and read on! As an aside, Dr. Vitt's book was the monthly selection for our Bodacious Book Group, and terrific discussion was generated from its contents! Happy Reading! Get financially fit! Miriam Etris

In essence, it provides understandable financial advice and the tools to follow through. It is a good book to read start to finish, and then to keep on hand for later reference as it does provide specific, step-by-step advice for different milestone experiences such as purchasing a home. This book is a must read.

Illuminating Information

I can see the light at the end of the tunnel!!! Even before I finish this book I feel compelled to write about how the information I've read so far has already been changing the way I think and behave towards money for the better. In just the first ten chapters of the book alone (there are nineteen in total) I've been motivated to do some personal reflection about my goals, values and attitudes towards finances... I've become aware of areas where some change needs to take place and I've gotten confirmation that I'm on the right track with others. The examples given are great because they are scenarios taken from the lives of real people, like me, and it let's me know that I'm not alone in some of my experiences. There is hope. Money management has become "personal" for me as the book has helped me weed through all of the varying messages I've received and listened to over the years from family, friends, media, the marketplace, co-workers and the like and I've determined ways to work towards my own idea of financial well-being based upon my personal life values. I am not feeling stressed, like I was a month ago, as the title suggests this journey would be a "no stress" process, but instead I am feeling wiser, empowered and inspired about the future. I can't wait to finish the remaining nine chapters!!! Look to hear from me again once I've become even stronger, more secure, and dare I say Financially Fit!! I highly recommend this book for everyone looking to grow in the area of personal finance, it's worth the investment!

"You and Your Money"

There are a ton personal finance books out in the market place from the "Buy, Sell, Buy " variety to those focused on if takes 3 million or 5 million to retire comfortably. Few delve into the basics of "getting started" and connecting one's own values to personal finance decisions. That is why You and Your Money by Lois Vitt and Karen Murrell is unique. It provides a practical guide to the financial marketplace and also helps one become aware of their own "money" values. Some of the tips in the book are invaluable.

A Valuable Financial Education

After reading Dr. Vitt's previous book (and purchasing several copies to give to friends) I eagerly anticipated You and Your Money. This book provides the knowledge needed to take responsibility for your own current and future financial security. I took the quiz and now know what influences my behavoir when it comes to money and how to plan for what I want and need for the future. This well written book will educate you on a personal level and make you aware of potential financial disasters. I like the use of real people examples and have already been recommending and giving copies to friends. I recommend this book to everyone. No matter what your current financial situation this book is a course in Finance you will benefit from.
