Say Yes to Yes!

In our hustle and busy world, our days are filled with such mundane things as deciding whether to have a latte or capucinno, shuttling our kids from the swimming pool to the soccer field, worrying about whether our lawn is as nice as our neighbour 's or how we are going to make this month's mortgage, car, boat and cottage payments.Contrast the above to the live of Alexander Munzel, who life has spanned over seven decades and who from the age of 14, faced innumerable roadblocks in his life. Conscripted into one of the highest risk units of the German army at age 17, Alex literally dodged an early death on numerous firefights with the Russian army. After the war, he was a stowaway on an Africa bound boat, only to be deported in handcuffs back to Germany. He finally was able to emmigrate to Canada, leaving behind his family and true love. His life in Canada was full of many initial hardships, but eventually Alex put his way through university and became a respected architect and real estate workout specialist. Yet at the height of his business career, he had an epiphany that there must be more to life than simply amassing wealth and property. His thoughts returned to his true love in Germany, but even this results in a tremendous ordeal for Alex, the ending of which you will have to read for yourself. The book is written in narrative format, set in a quiet upstate New York cottage, where Alex is staying for a few days with one of his lifelong friends. You can just imagine the group sitting around the pot-bellied stove on a cold fall evening and recalling the events of their lives, as if they happened only a few days ago. This book exposes one man's quest for life - and love. His life is a success, not because of the final outcome, but because of the way in which he lived it, never giving up and never losing sight of what really counts in the final analysis.
