Enjoyable, entertaining reading

This was the first lesbian fiction that I have read. I purchased this book during a short trip to the bookstore on my lunch hour, choosing it because the background of the characters sounded similar to my own. I didn't realize I was purchasing "fiction" and was quite surprised at how good the book is. McDaniel's writing is easy to read and within a few pages I was struggling to put the book down. McDaniel's combination of romance and suspense will keep you turning the pages. While not too much suspense to keep you awake at night, the romance, however, might inspire something other then sleeping. McDaniel's book takes place in the New York City area. I was surprised by the openness and interconnectivity of the lesbian community presented by McDaniel, while at the same time questioning if such communities actually exist and longing for those connections myself. Despite your background or personal experiences you will find the characters easy to relate to and will soon be longing to become a part of their community. This book is good enough that it has inspired me to find other mysteries and romances involving lesbian characters. The plot, however, is slightly underdeveloped and the mystery is solved without too much tension, with the main focus upon character relationships. An enjoyable book that I would eagerly recommend to my friends
