An excellent resource for young people about a great American national treasure

As a two-time traveler to Yellowstone, I can appreciate the fact of its' existence. The first national park ever created, the order to preserve it was signed by President Ulysses S. Grant in 1872. The natural beauty is spectacular, there is so much to see and you find yourself wanting to see it all again. This book is a brief synopsis of the history of the park and some of the more prominent natural formations. It is truly a national treasure and young people must be made aware of that fact. I also commend the author for discussing some of the ecological issues with the park, in particular the role of predators such as wolves and cougars. The "let-it-burn" policy regarding fires started by lightning is also mentioned. The great fire of 1988, which I witnessed, is also covered. American children should learn about all of the major national treasures of the United States and this is an excellent resource about one of the most majestic of those treasures.
