A fascinating read!

I was originally looking for something purely fictional along the lines of pacific island adventure. I came across this book in a used book store and hesitated but I'm glad I bought it. This is an excellent introduction to the life of Yankee whalers in the late 1700's and 1800's. The stories were intriguing. As a Navy man myself, I really enjoyed learning about life at sea during that period of time. It was a terribly rough and at times strange life. The book served to spark my interest in the topic of whaling and I'll probably be looking for another book on the subject. This book is a pleasure and worth your time!
