Lives are on the line and passions are running high in space, where the people of Yamato and Amerika struggle to obtain the Jewel of Power and other treasures. A vast, exuberant space... This description may be from another edition of this product.
In a universe where the different cultures of Earth have expanded into deep space and kept their languages and traditions intact, some age-old conflicts also survive. When the Emperor of Yamato, the Japanese sector of settled space, embarks on a war of conquest with the Chinese and American sectors, it is in the old spirit of Bushido. Giant fleets of spaceships loaded with Samurai warriors armed with high-tech weapons and swords descend on target planets, and battles on a scale dwarfing those in Star Wars develop. With plenty of huge-scale action and cultural touchstones to intrigue and inform, this sadly out-of-print and never-yet finished series (which includes the paperback-only sequel Yamato 2: The Way of the Warrior in two volumes...Ken...PLEASE give us more!) is a must-have for "space-opera" and sci-fi fans.

Yamato: A Rage in heaven is one of the most imaginative books ever written. The characters are excellent and well defined. The story is outstanding. It draws you in and won't let go. The "hardware" is incrediblely imaginative and will be a big hit with all Tech fans. If you can find a copy GET IT, you won't be disappointed. If you finda copy of Yamato II, please let me know!
Excellent but impossible to find

Yamato is one of the best "Hard" sci-fi novels I've read. It's almost impossible to get a hold of. The sequal is even harder to find. Look for it; it's definatly worth the effort. The book was later divided into two different books.
