practical guidance on the planning and building of cabin accommodation in sailing and power craft Mike Saunders ; illustrated by Mike Saunders and Richard F. Reeves. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a great book. Mr. Saunders knows his stuff and he knows how to teach what he knows. Not only does he give us the how-to we expect, he gives us the why-to, which is usually more valuable. I particularly liked the photographs and drawings about ergonomics. Mr. Saunders went so far as to make a little articulated paper doll representing typical human dimensions and position the little sailor in several typical places on a typical boat. Sounds mundane, but it does a great job of showing why a 26-inch wide bunk might be a better choice than one that's 36 inches wide. Some of the best information in this book is about making best use of limited space. That is helpful if you are building a recreational vehicle, a travel trailer, or an expedition Unimog. Or maybe even a yacht.
