Wynn Handman is the co-founder and artistic director of The American Place Theatre, which produced the work of American poets Robert Lowell, Anne Sexton and William Alfred as well as early plays by Sam Shepard, Ronald Ribman, Ed Bullins, Steve Tesich, Maria Irene Fornes, Eric Bogosian and Aasif Mandvi. Furture stars who studied with him or appeared in APT productions include Frank Langella, Dustin Hoffman, Joel Grey, Roscoe Lee Browne, Marian Seldes, Faye Dunaway, Richard Gere and Olympia Dukakis. Since 1994, APT's 'Literature To Life' program has brought live performances of contemporary literary works to thousands of students across the U.S.
