Heart-breaking, haunting, and honest

Mark Sanderson has created a delicate yet detailed account of his drawn-out farewell to his partner, Drew. Reading at times as a mystery, led by Drew's unremorseful terminal illness, we follow Mark and Drew into and through their "wrong rooms." Sanderson has created a memoir that is so painfully explicit that it leaves the reader with vivid images that are unique and lasting. Yet, the appropriately placed lightheartedness, together with Sanderson's honesty, gives the piece a foundation that helps the reader understand, and eventually accept, the narrator's agonizing secret.
