Fantastic Resource for Educators

I purchased this book to help write my literature review for my Master's degree, and it was the only book that connects spoken word poetry with urban classrooms. Fisher does a great job of showing the many sides of one teacher in New York City that uses spoken word poetry to get his students excited about literacy. A great example of best practices, ideas for starting your own spoken word work in your classroom, and what teaching in an urban school means.
