One of the best spiritual books I've ever read

As a present member of the churches formerly known as the "ICOC," I've had the opportunity to read many books by authors of the church. I've found most of them to be shallow and not well written, and most of them that I purchased are going in the trash. Henry's book will not be one of them. I've heard him speak several times, and I appreciate how emotionally involved he is with God. He is very sincere and very honest in his walk with God and I appreciate that and am able to learn from that. His book is full of examples, scripture and his own struggles and instruction. This is a book that I read only a few pages at a time in order to digest what he was saying. Its also one that I will go back to over the years as I grow in my own relationship with God. Thank you, Henry, for revealing your heart and for sharing what you have learned about what it is to be a Christian.

Great for Learning to be in Awe

This is one of the books that I would say has had a profound impact on my relationship with God. If you're the type of person that isn't especially in touch with their emotions, (like me), you can't help but to be blown away by Henry's intimate and humble relationship with God. He writes, (and speaks), with so much passion that it calls me to greater heights and to seek a greater sense of awe toward God.The one thing is that I found it difficult to read the first time I started reading it, and put the book down. Then I heard him speak on the topic and realized that he writes the way he speaks. I tend to focus on every word when I read a book, but it helped me a lot to simply read straight through a chapter and not focus on each individual word, just as I would if I was listening to him speak. This helped me to get a better understanding of what he wanted to convey, and it gave me a lot of food-for-thought as well.

Book by Henry Kriete

This is a great book on having a true/real relationship with God. This book addresses "traditional" views of Christianity and uses biblical teaching to educate the reader about having a true relationship with God. If you wanting to make radical changes in your walk with God, then this book is for you!

We worship an awesome God!

This book is fantastic! Our church read this together and I must admit this is the first book we have read together that I actually not only kept up with the reading, but finished the book early! Henry Kriete has a God-given talent of capturing the reader and I believe that he has done the best job at capturing the awesomeness of our God (even though words could never describe fully). The book gives practicals concerning how to worship. If you would like to go way beyond the ho-hum "worship" and really begin worshiping God "in spirit and in truth" then reading this book is a perfect first step in the right direction.

Don't kill the messenger

This is a great book regardless of the fact that Henry WAS a member of the International Churches of Christ. It's a well thought-out, well written book about getting intimate with your creator. It's a product of his own search for God and his return to God-centered worship and devotion that is solid and sound. It's full of good theology and tries to get the reader focused on God - and off the world. Henry was also the one who wrote the "Honest to God" letter that was the shot heard 'round the world and exposed a lot of sin in the ICC churches throughout the world (I'm sure that any internet search of the letter or the author would yield a wealth of results). Henry is serious about God, and from what I can tell always has been. This is a great book about getting back to the real reason that anyone is a Christian in the first place - to bow before the eternal God and seek his favor.
