This book is not quite what I expected. At first, when I looked at the book, I thought that it would be a rundown of what happened during the war. After I read it though, I realized that it was actually more of a book that describes both sides of an issue, such as whether or not women should go to war. What really amazed me about this book is that it is perfect for any kids doing a project on World War II, such as the History Fair. That was also the problem for me with this book. If your looking for a book that explains in gruesome detail all of the battles of World War II, this is not your book. What this book does is explain the political aspects of the book. It gives you an issue, which is basically the beginning of the chapter. For the first part of the chapter it explains one side of an issue using actual quotes from people during that time and not civilians but government officials. In the back of the book, it also gives topics for discussions with other people, an Appendix, and a list of important events in Chronologic order, starting with President Roosevelt's inauguration. For people doing projects, it also gives an Annotated Bibliography of all the information's sources. Overall, this was a good book, but I wouldn't read it again unless I needed it for a project. For all the history buffs who like the political side of World War II, this book is a good read. Jeff Fisher
