"Girl Sitting At Piano" version

There are a lot of different collections of FH Burnett's works, so this review is for the version of Collected Novels that has a picture of a little girl sitting at a piano. 500 pages. (Included in it are 1. Secret Garden, 2. Little Princess, 3. Little Lord Fauntleroy, 4. Little Princess: Being the Whole Story etc., 5. Lost Prince, and 6. Lady of Quality.) ***So it's actually just FIVE novels, bc "A Little Princess" is in it twice, with just slightly different formatting. This I thought was very weird. (The short version of Sarah Crewe is in Collection Novels II.)*** Nevertheless, it's a lot of book for your money, and the quality of the publishing is good. No typos (I read a version of Fauntleroy once that was rife with typos, so now I feel the need to mention this.) There are no illustrations in this version. As you can imagine, the formatting is very tight to cram so much into just 500 pages. It's also a very large book-- 8.5"x11" and 1.25" thick. I wanted to write this review bc it's so hard to find info about FH Burnett collections--plus there's so many different ones!!! As for the novels themselves...what can I say? I love all of these novels so much that I had to OWN them, even though my library has them. One of the novels included in this book forever changed my life. I read it at a time when I most needed to hear what it had to say. Thus, while many wonderful books have I read in the past, that one is my Favorite Book; -- a very serious claim to hold. And this collection has all of the big-ticket favorites in one! Lost Prince is edge-of-your-seat intrigue that will have you squirming with delight. Secret Garden is, of course, an absolute crescendo of goodness.
