Well Done

Well laid out and thorough, this book covers all the essentials of planning out your transition to home-based work. The author is very honest and sets readers up with a realistic portrait of what they can expect as they make decisions and changes. Very glad I read it, and highly recommended to anyone thinking about staying at home or who has recently made the change and isn't finding it to be what they expected!

Great Book!

This is an incredible book which simply lays out all the steps for working from home. Whitwer brings up many hurdles women might face that you might not normally think of. Best of all, Whitwer approaches each topic in her book from the perspective of putting God first and getting your priorities straight. She gives a very realistic picture of preparing, transitioning, and working from home. I highly recommend this book!

Great Resource

This has to be one of the best books I've ever read on beginning and running a home-based business...and I've read plenty. Author Glynnis Whitwer packs this book full of information that is useful to the newbie as well as the seasoned home-based business owner. Her chapters include such helpful topics as understanding your call to work at home, realities of working at home, the real cost of work, creating a transition plan and a business plan, balancing work and home and setting up a home office. Plus she offers practical tips on time management and different home-based business opportunities. I've worked at home for over 10 years now and I still found new ideas in this book that I could implement to help improve my business. Work @ Home is a one-stop-shop of advice and tips for women who want to work at home. I highly recommend it!

Work @ Home is a True Treasure for MOMS

One of the toughest decisions a mom makes is whether or not to continue to work outside of the home. I have walked on both side of the working mom tightrope. I worked full-time before kids, part-time after kids, and now work from home as a columnist and author. I know how tough it is to balance it all. But I have also seen the blessings my being home has brought to my family. Do I miss my office, my desk and my mocha lattes? Sure, sometimes. But as work-from-home mom, I get to snuggle on the couch with my preschooler and share grilled cheese sandwiches for lunch. I am a firm believer that you CAN have it all....JUST NOT ALL AT ONCE! And when your kids are young, they need you home. Period. Life is about balance. Choosing what is most important to your family, and then making that happen. Working from home is possible, and in Work @ Home, author Glynnis Whiter shows you how. Glynnis takes the working mom dilemma to a new level, and shares great secrets to work at home success. Glynnis is Founder of Transition Home, a web based and workshop ministry helping women through the process of leaving the traditional workplace to help them be successful at home. She is also the Senior Editor of P31 Woman, a publication of Proverbs 31 Ministry, and contributing writer to Leading Women to the Heart of God, published by Focus on the Family. Work @ Home is full of practical ideas moms can apply in their own lives to save money - like packing healthy snacks in a small cooler in the car instead of driving through McDonald's; having a clothing swap with your girlfriends when your kids outgrow stuff; and planning a weekly menu to save money on your grocery bill. In Work @ Home Glynnis inspires women to find balance in their lives - financially, professionally, personally, and spiritually - and to follow their unique calling form God. Glynnis uniquely challenges moms to model plans, decisions and actions after God's leading. She says, "God has called me at this time and place to do what I do. He sees my potential and knows better than I what my future holds." Let's face it - life with kids sometimes makes you feel like a clown on a balance beam, oversized shoes tripping you up as you juggle a dozen balls. No wonder we moms tend to lose our balance and fall flat on our faces. That's motherhood! But if we slow down our pace, slow down our spending, and slow down our careers - if we can strike a balance between home life and work life, we can grow professionally and spiritually. Working at home is not always as simple as it sounds either. But in the end, you might just gain more than you ever imagined. Work @ Home is a must read for moms seeking a better solution than running on the treadmill of time, trying to do it all. Glynnis will help you understand your calling, and give you a way to make working from home not only possible, but practical. And as always, enjoy the journey! [...]
