I currently use an old edition of this workbook in my 7th grade classroom. I find it extremely useful because of the many different contexts that it uses to examine a word and its meaning. For example, it uses a list of 20 words and then asks you to chooses the best meaning for each word as it is being used in a sentence. It later uses words in a story for connotative meaning, and it examines suffixes, prefixes, latin roots, etc. This is only a representation of the different ways it acquaints you with the words. As a bonus, the format is similar to standardized tests! I rank it a four out of five. It would get top marks, but it lacks the color and graphics to make it more visually appealing.
