Just a Wonderful Book!

I absolutely L*O*V*E*D this book! It is written in a very witty style that is entertaining to read and impossible to put down. The words are indeed EXTREMELY obscure and very well-chosen and researched, and nearly all of them are words that one actually WANTS to find a reason to use more often. For anyone who loves words and wordsmithery in general, this is a great read. A great gift too!

Absolutely, A Book To Own

For the wordsmiths among us, it's hilarious. For everyone else, it's hilarious. For the intellectual, it's a must read, must have book to further impress (or infuriate) your friends with new found verbal stealth. And, "Dictionary" game players, this is a MUST have book! What I found really entertaining was looking up many of the words from the book in a real dictionary (you'll need the super-size edition) as well as the on-line dictionaries. The "Dirty Words" and "Swear Words & Curse Words" sections of the book are particularly funny. It's amazing how many euphemisms we have for those evil thoughts that lurk in our psyche and how Bloor laughs you through all of them. It also makes for a great coffee table book. I inadvertently left it lying on my coffee table when a bunch of friends were visiting, and the book became the central activity of the evening. "Words You Don't Know" gets my 5 star rating.

What's a word for a great read?

I actually laughed out loud while reading this cleverly written book. Now, I am not an epeolatrist, but after reading this book, I might be! Trust me, you will discover many words in this opuscule that will make you glad you bought it!

Well, I knew some of them....

This is a remarkable book. I have always been a fan of "words" and this is the quintessential collection of some of the more interesting and obscure idioms, lexemes, locutions and morpheme I have ever encountered. The author's humor and insights make it an easy and compelling read. I only wish for a Kindle version so I may reexamine some of it on demand. I recommend it to anyone who is a fan of reading, language, or entertainment. Bravo!

Fun, Inticing, Intriguing

Very interesting book. Keeps you glued to the page. Bloor's description and selection of words you don't know is something else.
