Bringing history to life !

History books can usually be pretty boring. This one is not ! It is fun, alive, easy to read and very colorful. The information is accessible to young readers and adult readers like me...who don't want to be overwhelmed with information, but want to have fun learning it ! This is an original and lively book, I would recommend it.

Sister, Mother, Girl.

Being a strong, independent woman is nothing to be ashamed of and this book proudly and effectively proves this point. From the tribes of women warriors who battled and won male enemies, to modern day cartoon warriors, this book covered every aspect of what it means to be a powerful woman. A modern day history book, that is easy and fun to read. Be sure to purchase this for your daughters, your girlfriends, and those needing a reminder of what it means to be secure with your gender.

The Truth About Women

Listen, I've always known that women kick tail, and this book proves it. Forget about Xena and Wonderwoman, let's get to the real action with Lozen and the Truong Sisters. Let's find out about a day in the life of Lakshmibai and Boudicca and recognize that feminism isn't a NEW phenomenon, it's part of the world order. (It's just that some people decided to leave these fierce women out of the text books because frankly, they put the men to shame.) Apeles does a great job of including vital historical data and mixing it with modern text, a technique which makes the book appealing as a conversation piece. There's no heavy handed "women are better than men" thing in this book, just straight facts about a legion of warriors who deserve to be known. Excellent!

Girl Kick A**

This book covers contemporary/fictional and historical images of powerful women which will appeal to both young and older audiences. The tone is light, humorous but peaks your curiosity about what life might have been like for many of these heroines from centuries past.It would be great if warrior names such as Lakshmibai and the Trung sisters were as recognizable as Gensghis Khan or Spartacus. I would especially recommend getting a copy of this book for young women in junior high/high school who are not exposed to powerful images/facts of women warriors in history. Great illustrations!
