Betty Jane Cooper was born in 1923 to Wesley and Cora Cooper. She is the last of nine children. Prior to her birth her father had lost his North Dakota farm through foreclosure. Within two years of her birth, both her eldest brother and her eldest sister died. Betty's mother had a nervous breakdown. In spit of poverty, the Great Depression, making due with little, the family stuck together. This is Betty's story of growing up in North Dakota, her family's migration out West during and after World War II, raising a family, and facing old age with strength and grace.
