For any woman seeking inspiration and to share a sisterhood with others.

"Life can stretch your soul or tear your spirit..." "Womankind" is a collection of stories from six women from around the world and anthologized by Nancy Leigh Harless who has collected them in her travels and experiences as a nurse. The stories are truly far reaching and range from Belize to Kosovo, but readers will identify with their tales and relate through their common status as women of the world. High recommended for community library women's issues shelves, or for any woman seeking inspiration and to share a sisterhood with others.

Incredible book

This book became an instant classic for me. I would highly recommend reading this poignant collection of vignettes from around the world that highlights the international connection between women.

MUST READ

Wonderful book! I savored every story. The struggles, the humanity. This is going to be a Xmas gift for all the women I know.

Womankind Rocks!

I savored this book! One story at a time. One each day. I wanted to think about the lives of these women...each one...and the message they have for us all. Wonderful, simply wonderful, and full of the spirit of women. I WANT MORE STORIES!!!

Wonderful stories about wonderful woman

I really enjoyed this book about so many strong women. It describes so well many war torn and poverty stricken areas, and the women who overcame the living conditions there. The author delineates how she and others (mostly women, but there were some men also) tried to teach and assist women with family planning and infant care in some areas of the world where these ideas aren't always popular. I like the layout of many short stories opposed to one large book, which in this day and age most of us don't have the time to read. If you like stories about women overcoming opposition, I believe that you should definitely give this a read!
