This is the shocking story of the poor, abused victims and their shattered lives. From small Asian villages to Eastern European cities people desperate for a better way of life are seduced by the promise of well-paying jobs as domestic servants, waitresses and factory workers. Traffickers recruit victims through enticing advertisements. Filled with case-studies from around the world, journalist Gilbert King follows these women in their desperate search for happiness and money. This is a moving tale and a call for action against these atrocities.
Should be a mandatory book for any current events course in college. The problem of human slavery is overlooked by schools and the media, and this book sheds light on a tragedy of enormous proportion. Woman, Child for Sale also reports on the countries that are the biggest violators of this human rights crisis and presents possible solutions. I was swept away by the depth of this problem and found this book very useful and informative.
Insightful.

This book is one of half a dozen books that I bought last week. I have had difficulty putting this book down, as it is insightful, gripping, and utterly heart-wrenching. It explores a topic that many people choose to ignore in today's blind society, and it ought to be read by intellectuals world-wide.
