A Howling Success!

As a wolf enthusiast, I am so impressed with this book, I don't know where to start my review. The illustrations are amazing, especially the "movable art" and the dramatic pop-up picture in the center. The arrangement of material on the colorful pages is pleasing and inviting to the eye of child and adult alike. The text is factual, clear, succinct, and engaging. Black obviously knows her subject and knows how to convey information to kids. Among my favorite pages were the ones on The Mythical Wolf, which shows a Native American wearing a wolf pelt and a truly menacing-looking wolf in a pink nightgown brandishing his claws (remember the story of Little Red Riding Hood?). I highly recommend this to libraries, schools, museums, and zoos -- as well as to individuals who want to teach their children about wolves and their place in our world.

Awesome

Awesome book for both children and their parents to learn facts about Wolves present and past. It was like having my own personal tour thru a museum of science, while still keeping it fun, and interesting with the pop ups and Wolf Tracks. Very well written, a lot of detailed info in short manageable reading segments. It's a great coffee table book for an adult environment, the cover definitely lures anyone to pick it up and take a glance, then curiosity takes over, turning each page in wonder of what might be lurking behind the next.

Wolves for kids

I purchased this book for my grandchildren, but found it a good read for adults also. The author has obviously done a thorough job researching and presenting her findings in a way that children will understand and love and adults will find in the "I didn't know that ....... " category. The illustrations are outstanding and the foldout in the middle of the book is an engineering feat.
