Wolf's Temptation

From the time they first meet at a masked party, Maris Winter drives Ethan Gray mad. A familiar scent she exudes-the scent of tobacco-is the same as that of a woman who held a gun to his head once in a dark warehouse. After setting up an assignation he is confident will net him the lady dressed as a peacock, he is angered and frustrated to find she has flown the coop, leaving only her feathers behind. Maris, who has mistaken Ethan for her contact, agrees to meet him to retrieve a key he is supposed to give her-only to realize before she keeps their assignation that he is not the man in the tiger mask she is looking for. This taut and well-executed tale of revolutionary romance opens by grabbing our attention and holds it well throughout the book. When Maris and Ethan are assigned to work together, and discover a mutual attraction, things heat up, but a bit of shared history-Ethan tried, but was unable to save the life of Maris' father-and Ethan's belief that Maris suffers from hero worship where he is concerned, impede the lovers' progress. In addition, Maris finds herself in the position of having to protect the very man they are set to find-even at the cost of Ethan's love and her own love of country. A few phrases that sound too modern for the setting strike an off-key note, but some well-plotted twists and turns ending in a series of final revelations are worth following to the conclusion of this romantic and adventurous story. superb Georgian Spies romantic thriller

In 1777, society considers Ethan Gray as a rakish wastrel seducing their females, innocent and married alike; however the higher ups in Lord North's Anti British Activity Committee know him as Wolf, their top spymaster. Now His current assignment is to uncover the identity of the smuggler delivering weapons to the rebels in the colonies. Since he has shown no progress in his mission, Lord North assigns him to work with female spy, Maris "Raven" Winter over his objections. The Wolf and the Raven have a past together as he failed in a courageous attempt to save her father's life. Now he finds he has another problem because he wants Maris and he knows she reciprocates. However, besides the mission coming first and feeling guilt over his failure to rescue her sire, he assumes her attraction is hero worship. However, she too has a reason not to pursue a personal relationship with her hero; she vows to keep safe the smuggler. The second Georgian Spies romantic thriller (see FALCON'S MISTRESS) is an action-packed tale that never slows down from the moment that the Wolf and the Raven are teamed until his sister Freddie's final revelations (read to learn what they are). The lead couple is a fascinating duo as both struggles with an attraction that could interfere with their mission. Historical fans will enjoy WOLF'S TEMPTATION, a fine look from the perspective of British espionage agents (honor and duty over personal feelings) and the aristocracy (ungrateful insurgents) during the early years of the colonial rebellion.
