Without Trace

Germany rose from the ashes after losing WW I. Soon it followed a leader, who acted as if a benefactor and who eventually ascended to overall power. He succeeded to manipulate people for his absurd aims and to harm them fundamentally, even the Germans themselves. Thus he ruined a whole nation. It suffered the most catastrophic defeat in its history and was branded for decades afterwards. In this context it is often forgotten that many Germans gave their lives in a war they fought without often understanding their leader s sinister purposes.

A human story begins to unfold some decades before WW I which has now long faded into history. It constitutes the basis of a noble novel which employs the course of events to depict the development of a German family and their consecutive generations who cannot escape the terrible consequences of history. From affuent and good people they are plunged into a life of conflict, isolated from each other and scattered over a country dominated by the Nazis and their ruthless ideology which led their country to be despised and defeated in WW II.

In the middle of it all there is Otto, a young pilot of the German Wehrmacht in WW I. Full of patriotism and obedience he faces his fate and tries to give his best for his country. His story is one of love, but also of scheming and of treason. Unexpected events lead him first to Cuba, then on to Mexico, two countries which will never let him go again.
