Book Overview

Hi, I'm Nancy Drew, and I've got a case to crack. Actually make that two cases. First a gorgeous Faberg egg has been stolen. Who would have the heart to snatch such a precious family heirloom from someone new to town? Some housewarming that is
And if this isn't enough to keep me busy, someone's running through gardens and stomping on all the zucchinis. Needless to say, it's a big mess -- in more ways than one. Especially for Mr...

Without a Trace

Squashed squash...a missing family heirloom...can Nancy Drew, River Heights' infamous teen detective, get to the bottom of this one? In this story, we follow Nancy, along with her best friends, Bess and George (Georgia), as they try to solve TWO mysteries at once! So far, there is barely enough information to get a good lead on either case...and the more days go by, the more squash is squashed, and the farther away the valuable egg could be traveling from River Heights. But Nancy has a feeling...a feeling that the criminals may actually be close by. I have to admit, I don't care for old things. Don't ask me why, I just don't. I've always sort of wondered if I'd like the "Nancy Drew" series, but I was never eager to give it a try. When my mom recently mentioned that a lot of readers love the "Nancy Drew" series, I remembered reading in a magazine that a new line of books about the blond detective just came out in 2004. I bought the first book, excited to give it a try, and loved it! Almost every chapter ended with a cliffhanger that made me immediatly move on to the next one...actually, I was so curious to find out "whodunnit" that I could hardly put the book down! The writing was so descriptive, and the story entertained me, while also keeping me in suspense. I'm so glad I gave this series a chance, and I can't wait to get a hold of the next book! I recommend this series to all girls!

love this book

i really enjoyed this book and to be honest i like these books better than the old ones:)great book!

Nancy Drew is at it again!

I thought this was a fairly good start to yet another updated Nancy Drew series. All the familiar characters are here, from Nancy's housekeeper, Hannah Gruen, to her boyfriend, Ned Nickerson. The plot is fairly simple in this one; a Faberge egg has been stolen, and it's up to Nancy to figure out who did it. She does, of course, and while it wasn't really a complex mystery to me, I'm sure it will be a little less obvious to younger readers.

Meet the New Nancy

There's a problem in Nancy Drew's neighborhood. Someone has been smashing all the zucchini plants. Is this a case of neighbors turning on each other, or is something else involved? While investigating, Nancy meets Simone. She's recently moved to River Heights. When one of her family heirlooms is stolen, she asks Nancy for help. But who would take something that had more sentimental then monetary value?I must admit I was very curious when I heard about them updating Nancy Drew. I'd read some of the books as a kid, and couldn't resist picking this book up. Ultimately, I liked it. Nancy, Bess, George, and Ned have been given more human make-overs. They could turn into much more interesting characters here then they were in the originals. And the first person narration was a nice touch. I found the crimes a little too mundane compared to what Nancy used to investigate, but the plot was well done with several clues hidden throughout the book. I picked up on some of them, but not all.In the end, this updating is a winner. Here's to the New Nancy staying around for quite some time.

Very Pleased

I am sooo happy that they released a new Nancy Drew series. How clever it was to write it in first person. Instantly you become a part of the mystery. YOu feel that Nancy is talking to you and you become a part of the action. I HIGHLY recommend this book to children or ANYONE who loves mysteries. :)
