Beth Lindon is on the way to meet her grandfather for the first time. In fact he didn't even know he'd had a granddaughter as he'd been estranged from his two sons, who where both killed in a plane crash nine years earlier. He is her only living relative and she's recently found out about him and is eager to meet him. However she sets out from London on a gray, dreary day that turns horribly worse. She's still quite a distance from Witchwood, where her grandfather lives, when she's caught in a freak snowstorm and she gets stuck. She's afraid of freezing when another car comes along and she flags it down.He is Ryan Drago. He finds a cabin nearby and organizes their survival, telling Beth how they'll ration food, and sleep next to each other to conserve body heat. Then when Beth tells him her name he becomes rude and abusive. It seems that he's long been a friend of Beth's grandfather and he's never heard of her. Later, after he accepts her story, he tells her that the old man is ill and the shock of learning about her might just put him over the edge. He suggest that Beth pose as his wife during the visit. At first she thinks the idea is crazy, and then, well you can imagine what happens next in this romance that was written way back in Nineteen Hundred and Seventy Eight. Though the story got a little tense at times, it's still a five star read as far as I'm concerned.A Harlequin Dreamers Review by Gracie Houston
