A tangled web to the fullest!

I have read all of Raynetta Manees' books, and I have to say that this is one of her best. I finished this book in 5 hours. I have to say that I was not dissappointed in the least. Eventhough at times I felt like giving Shay a good shake for putting up with Ric's bs. Raynetta keep up the good work. I can't wait to read her latest novel.

Loved It!

This book is really special. It was much more true to life than most romanance novels. The characters were all endearing, even the ones who were wrong-headed, because you couldn't help but empatize with them, as another reviewer has noted. I love Manees' work, and cant wait for the next one!

Unique, Classy, Complex

This is NOT your "average" romance novel. The emotional development of the characters is so deep and true to life it should probably be listed as a "mainstream" novel. Shay is not your typical "perfect" heroine. She has one major flaw--the very vivid imagination that makes her such a successful writer is the same trait that leads her astray in finding true love. But what woman among us HASN'T had the experience of falling for the wrong man? Ric is a messed up dude, but the author has beautifully developed his past and his character so that you understand WHY he's so messed up, and sympathize with him in spite of it. And Woody? This brother has GOT to be the ulimate hero--the kind of man every woman would love to have. Although this story has deep themes, as usual Manees has also filled the story with laughter and wit. Marty is a priceless gem, a sister who can jump from a an outrageous flirt to a business woman with a razor sharp mind in the blink of an eye. And Darnell is perfection as well.I am an avid Manees fan (i guess you could tell!). This sister has skills in so many areas it's spooky. One of the things I love most about her work is the positive image of the Black community she always projects. She has villians of course (and WHAT villians), but even THEY are bright and articulate, even though misguided. In fact, let me enter a plug here for her book, FOLLOW YOUR HEART. Ever seen FUNNY villian? The villian in that book will keep you rolling. How Manees does it, I don't know--because he's so creepy your skin will crawl, but just the same, he's also funny!I've read all her other books, and somehow misssed WISHING ON A STAR until now. I'm certainly glad I found it. Another winner by this fantastic author!

Exciting, Refreshing & Intelligent

I spent (2) days reading this novel and I almost completed the book in (1) day. Just when I got to a stopping point I kept reading to satisfy inquiring mind. The reason I did not give it 5-Stars because I truly felt that Shay was a little to "flaky" that she actually ticked me off the way she kept accepting Ric's apologizes. She was such a intelligent woman I really believe if she had listented to her gut feelings . . .it would have told her that Woody was the man, and all the man she needed in her life. Thank you

Can Dreams Come True

What an excellent story. Can you imagine an author's dream come ? Write a story then have it made for a movie. Falling for a popstar that was inspired for her bestseller. Then this is one you should put on your MRL(Must Read List). How many times have you read a book and thought Wow or fall in love with a character. Well, this was my first time falling for a character. All the while I read this story in my mind I kept letting Natasha he's (Ric)no good for you , take Woody . She just would not listen to me . I would tell her time and time again, but did she listen? Well she finally did!!! The way I see it Ric tried to love her but he just did not know how to love himself. He had to learn how to love himself first, before he could love someone else.
