I picked the Letters and the Numbers ones up the other day. It holds my daughter's (20 months) attention for at least 45 minutes. I just put her in a smock in her highchair and let her go to town on it, and it wipes clean! Even though it says it's for kids age 3+, I ask her to "circle" the pictures I call out, so it's good for object recognition, and just plain fun for kids that like to scribble. They have really great pictures and activities for older children, like tracing the letters and numbers and circling the picture that doesn't belong, etc.. It also has a built-in carrying handle on the top.
Entertaining and educational

My 3 year older daughter loved both the letters and numbers books. They really helped her learn her letter and numbers and she loved playing the little games in it. It was a great activity for her to do while I made dinner too!

This is the only educational book that I've ever bought for my now five year old son. (He was 4 when I bought it.) To get him to sit down and practise writing. To get him to write his letters and numbers is like pulling teeth. I've tried regular flash cards, coloring books, using plain paper, making up my own activity sheets and he complaines the whole time. With this book he picks it up on his own and practises writing his numbers. He loves taking it in the car for longer car trips to give him something to do. I'm going to buy all of them. I can't recommend it enough. The only thing I'd caution is that the marker is not washable so it can stain fabric if your child is not careful.
great way to get practice

This is a great way for my entering kindergartener to familiarize himself with number shapes -- the book is really interesting to him, and its easier for him to form his numbers with the thick dry erase marker than with a pencil. I do get hin to use a pencil for all of his homework, but this did reinforce some letter formation skills, and I can't help but repeat, its really fun, and I can easily see a 3-4 yr old girl who may be more interested in writing really get a lot out of this, tho my son is just turned 5. The book is a board book, and really *does* wipe clean very nicely!
