Centering on underachieving novice sailboat skipper Trish Everett, the novel follows Trish's gradual progress as she gains the confidence and experience needed to step out from her expert older brother's shadow and to prove her sailing and racing skills. Despite several initial rocky outings, Trish, with the help of gorgeous, talented champion sailor Jonathan Stewart, eventually learns a multitude of valuable lessons about sailing and relationships. Very authentic, with plenty of sailing jargon and exciting racing sequences, the novel simultaneously develops both Trish's personal growth and the slowly developing romance between Trish and Jonathan with clarity and realism.
