Cute and creative!

Very cute book! Creative and well-written. Super quick and enjoyable to read. Heather is a real one. Jak is adorable. Tamisin rules.

Take flight with this lovely book

E.D Baker has always been a favorite of mine. And when I heard about this book, I knew it would be something special. The book is in three parts, Tamisan's side, Jak's side, and then there adventures together. And it was. The characters were realistic (besides the whold magical thing) and very funny. There is a idea of romance with the two main characters, but Baker as always, doesn't fling them together, there love grows at a normal pace. This book was very daring, E.d is using Shakesphere charactes. A dangerous fete, but she did it. It even made me want to read "A midsummer nights dream", that is a high compliment for Baker. I laughed so many times in this book, and each character had their own unique voice. She gives unique qualities to magical creatures creatures that I had never thought of, but now can easilly imagine. Great book, and I am hoping for a sequal!

charming story for fairy fans

Tamisin always knew she was different from the rest of her family, and it's not just her strangely pointed ears or her urge to dance in the middle of the night during a full moon. However, when what begins as a severe rash on her back leads to enormous real wings popping out, Tamasin learns that she's adopted, and in fact, part fairy. Jak, a new boy at school, is also not quite like everyone else, and soon takes Tamisin with him into the fairy realm, where she learns she's actually the half-human, half-fairy daughter of the fairy queen, Titania. The author cleverly uses A Midsummer Night's Dream as a starting point for this story, which is a perfect step up for girls who have outgrown the Disney Fairies franchise and who are fans of fantasies. The story offers an appealing mixture of humor and fantasy.

She'll soon learn that many things, even love, aren't all that they appear to be at first. From the author that brought you the fun-loving THE TALES OF THE FROG PRINCESS series comes yet another magical and enthralling read. The fantasy elements are strong in this book, but so are many modern influences. The mix is both inviting and up-to-date, and the tale engaging as Tamisin struggles to find her place in her new world. An Engaging Adventure

Tamisin has always suspected she is different from other girls. She has pointy ears and sparkling freckles and sees half-human beings no one else seems to notice. Or maybe she is just crazy. But when wings sprout on her back, any lingering doubt disappears. In search for answers to the questions her parents don't have, Tamisin follows Jak, a mysterious boy from her school, into a parallel world where fairies and goblins live. Soon Tamisin and Jak are fighting for their lives while trying to solve the puzzle of her origins and the reason for the prize someone has put on her head. I found Wings to be an intriguing tale with sympathetic characters and fast paced action, even if the logic within the story doesn't always work--Tamisin is more upset because her parents have never told her she is adopted than because she has just grown wings--and, on occasion, the characters seem to act in a certain way because the plot demands it, but don't have a reasonable motivation to do so. For instance Tamisin runs into the sea of grass because she doesn't trust Jak. Then after meeting the Lamia, she decides she trusts Jak after all and goes back to him. But nothing has happened in between to make her change her mind. Yet, overall, Wings is an engaging story that will leave you smiling.
