staying centered, living as an authentic person, being part of your community

I wrote it so of course I think it's great; but in reality it is not so much a "self-help" book but a trail guide for how we might learn to be who we really are and learn to live with human dignity in community
Very thought provoking!

My therapist lent me this book after a session in which I discussed my feeling that I was having a problem relating to others. This book was the perfect cure! What I took most from this book was that if you are true to your "self" and your needs, you become open to experiencing the beauty that is life rather than merely existing in it. Truly knowing and accepting yourself lays a foundation of self-esteem that is difficult to shake. It allows you to be yourself, and it allows you to be comfortable being yourself. Since I have spent most of my life being uncomfortable with "me", this is truly a revelation, and it has greatly enhanced my life.It is highly unfortunate that this book is out of print.
An excellent, thought provoking book

I read this book with a group of friends, we discussed a window (chapter) each time we got together. It was one of the most interesting experiences of my life. I am very disappointed to see that the book is out of print. I often feel the urge to re-read sections of it and my copy is getting very worn. Particularly important to me was the first window: Acceptance. We cannot change until we accept who we are and we cannot really have an intimate relationship with another person until we accept who they are. I encourage anyone wishing to better understand themself or others to find a copy of this book and hang onto it!
very insightful; a good recovery tool for a damaged soul....
