Provides the Windows NT administrator with a guide to security problems, with the aim of identifying problems before they occur. It covers version 4.0 of Windows NT. This description may be from another edition of this product.
This is a good overall overview of the three major topics contained in the title. If you are interested in learning the basics, this is a good book for you. The book rambles on through lots of topics, all sorta related. As a result, you can easily read a section or two. The troubleshooting section is good, but pretty straightforward. The intro section on how much security and pluses and minuses of different types of firewalls is also good. Also good is the presentation of the various US government D, C, and B levels and the site preparation handbook. The big problem is that there are too many typos. It is clear that this book could have benefitted from another rewrite to clarify some of the sentence constructions and things like a grammar check to take care of some bogus sentences. Despite the editing problems, this is still an excellent book, but one that aims more at beginning concepts and ideas than advice for those trying to offset a hacker's approach into NT.
