Totally intense

“I need you there, reminding me, pulling me back from the darkness that so desperately wants to devour my soul.” It took me a little longer to finish this book than any other Ronie Kendig's books because I so wanted to savor Chiji as the main character but also because the book addressed some real tough topics and I needed breaks from the intensity. The topic of trafficking is always hard and the author thoughtfully approaches it with gutsy honesty to unveil the evil and balances it with the tenacious passion of those fighting that evil to rescue the trapped. It's not an easy book to read and the emotions portrayed are raw and dig into the soul. But once you've read it, your eyes will be opened and your heart will be changed. Chiji is every bit as honorable, loyal, kind, faithful and dependable as I remember him from the author's previous books. Willow is a fascinating paradox of strength and vulnerability, stubbornness and soft bleeding heart. Though forged under duress, their relationship sizzles with chemistry and rightness. I totally loved Tox's cameo appearance in the prologue and also loved Stone and Brighton's story as a subplot. The introduction to Range in this book is intriguing and the dynamic between Brooke and Cord will be a fun mystery to unravel - I can’t wait for these books to release later this year. Go, Team Metcalfe! I received the book from the publisher via JustRead Tours and was under no obligation to post a positive comment. All opinions are my own.
