Wild Truth Journal

I teach a class on Sunday using this journal as devotion time for our young people and it is a fun way to get to know the bible.

Excellent, Creative Approach to Introducing Youth to Key Character's in Scripture

This journal is an interesting (and sometimes hilarious!)way of introducing Junior Higher's to important characters in the Bible, while also connecting the scripture to real life issues faced by today's youth. Each Journal page is made up of two parts (page front and page back). The front page introduces a Bible Character with a cool alias (e.g. "NICK at Nite" [Nicodemas] "Stuck Up UZZIE" [Uzziah], "FLAKY JAKES, the Thankless Bunch" [The ten lepers],etc.) Youth then need to play detective by reading the assigned Bible passage and discovering the character's real name, while also learning about an episode from the character's life. The front page concludes with some humor-laced questions that help draw out the content of the Bible story. The back page, entitled "Fast Forward", then asks the reader to think about a real-life issue that ties into this character's story (e.g. "Wise Guy" [Solomon} introduces the real life issue of making good decisions). Questions and activities here encourage the youth to apply the Biblical material to their own life in the coming week My only regret with the journal is that the characters do not appear in biblical/chronological order. We use this book as a type of 'Bible Survey' to introduce youth to the Scripture, so we end up having to 'jump around' the journal from week to week instead of going through the pages in order. But that is a small price gladly paid to allow youth to make use of this excellent resource.

It is a great way to interest Junior Highers in the bible!

I just started doing this book and I can't wait to do the next day's lesson. It tells you about different Bible charachters in a way you wouldn't imagine. It will keep you interested in God and on fire for him. I'm tellin' you this is the best devotional for Junior Highers that you will find!
